Whether you want to go to Wakefield for the afternoon, Prince Edward County for the weekend or the Eastern Townships for a week, you’ll find ideas in my weekly newsletter and subscriber-only posts.
Expertise you can rely on
My name is Laura Byrne Paquet, and I’m an Ottawa-based freelance travel writer. I’ve been writing about Eastern Ontario, the Outaouais and points beyond for over 30 years, for publications as diverse as National Geographic Traveler, Chatelaine and the Ottawa Citizen. I’ve also written two road trip guidebooks—one guidebook for places within 100 kilometres of Ottawa and another for spots a bit further afield.
In short, you can trust my advice! I’m not a bot. I don’t post AI-generated junk. When it comes to road trips from Ottawa, I’ve been there and done that—or, if it’s something new, I’ll be checking it out soon.

Keep me on the road
I love what I do, but it does cost money. Gas, insurance, cell phone plan, computer equipment—it all adds up. If you’d like to support me as I visit local attractions, delve into local history, suss out local restaurants and help keep local communities sustainable, please consider a paid subscription. And thanks!
